The most common form of PD is Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD). It can be performed at home, at work, or in any clean, dust-free location.
CAPD is usually performed four times a day, and the drain and fill steps of each exchange require about 20-30 minutes. The dwell time is generally 3-4 hours, depending on the needs. During this time patients are free to carry out most of their normal activities.
