Gambro signs agreement with Italian Trade Unions to optimize the bloodline manufacturing in Medolla, Italy

On June 1st, Gambro signed an agreement with Italian Trade Union representatives at the Italian Ministry of Economic Development (Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico) to continue with the optimization of the bloodline manufacturing foot print as announced on January 27, 2011.

Gambro decided to cease bloodline manufacturing in Medolla, Italy, in order to optimize its global bloodline manufacturing footprint. The company will outsource a number of the bloodline manufacturing activities currently performed at the site. In addition, the agreement details a number of investments in R&D, and monitor manufacturing including the development of the highly differentiated Artis bloodline cassette. The focus for Gambro’s Medolla plant over the next coming years will be to improve the competitiveness of the Artis Monitor System.
