Gambro congratulates America’s best hospitals

Gambro offers its congratulations to the award winners of the U.S. News & World Report list of top 50 centers for nephrology and pediatric nephrology.

“Gambro is extremely pleased that our customers are represented, year after year, in the U.S. News & World Report ranking,” says Stuart Paul, President of Gambro Americas.  “Gambro is committed to excellent patient outcomes and providing a better quality of life for patients undergoing dialysis or suffering from Acute Kidney Injury.”

U.S. News & World Report ranks institutions in 16 different medical specialties, including nephrology. For 12 of the specialties, the rankings are based on four elements: reputation, patient survival, patient safety, and care-related factors such as nurse staffing levels and patient services.

In May, 2011, U.S. News & World Report ranked Americas’ top children’s hospitals. In this listing, Gambro customers were, once again, prominently featured.

The top five pediatric hospitals for nephrology were as follows:

  1. Children’s Hospital of Boston
  2. Seattle Children’s Hospital
  3. Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital Medical Center
  4. Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
  5. Texas Children’s Hospital

“We are proud to provide products and therapies used at the top children’s hospitals,” said Paul.  We share a common goal providing a better quality of life for young patients with serious kidney disorders.”

The Top Children’s Hospitals ranking is based on factors such as survival following kidney transplant, biopsy complications, and overall infection prevention. The majority of this data came from a U.S. News & World Report survey of children’s hospitals. The remaining 25% of a center’s score is a reflection of how many of the 450 pediatric nephrologists surveyed in 2009, 2010 and 2011 recommended the hospital.
